Gary Fournier, ranked as a Top Advisor in California in Barron’s 2014 listing, serves wealthy investors as a portfolio manager at JP Morgan in Los Angeles. Outside of work, Gary Fournier contributes to many philanthropic organizations in southern California, including the Peninsula Friends of the Library.
The Peninsula Friends of the Library supports the Palos Verdes Library District, primarily by holding book sales several times a year. The Friends accept many kinds of media for sale or recycling, including used books, audio books, VHS and DVD videos, cassettes, CDs, and magazines. All should be in good condition, as damaged or highlighted books are not accepted.
The organization also operates a Books for Troops program. Since 2004, it has shipped some 76,000 magazines, CDs, videos, and books overseas. Contributors can leave donated items at any of three library locations, and preferred genres include mystery, adventure, and science fiction.
The Friends additionally sponsor a gift shop at the main branch. Shoppers can find unique items such as toys and jewelry for both kids and adults. Members receive a 10% discount on all purchases of $10 or more.
